Summit Lifeguard Classes Available

Are you looking for a part-time job?  The Summit Aquatic Center is currently looking for staff to cover morning, day, evening shifts. and is able to work around school schedules. Employee perks include: flexible scheduling, great pay, FREE Summit Membership, friendly staff atmosphere and more!  Lifeguard classes will be offered: September 13-15 and 21-22, or October 4-6 & 12-13 (Fridays from 5:30-9:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from  9:00 am.-5:30 p.m.  For more information, visit www.summitonthepark.org or cal 734/394-5460.

Canton Heritage Park Story Trail

Area residents are invited to attend the public ribbon-cutting ceremony that will be held for the grand opening of the Heritage Park Story Trail on Wednesday, September 11 at 5 p.m. This free event will be held at station #1 of the story trail, located on the park path near the west end of the Canton Public Library.  Presented in partnership with Canton Leisure Services, Canton Public Library and Blue Cross, Blue Shield, the Heritage Park Story Trail consists of a few pages of a feature book posted across seven stations on the half-mile trail.  The first installation features, "The Bear and the Piano," by David Litchfield.  Learn more here.

Canton Do Good Expo Returns

Join area residents, students, and local non-profits on September 11, the National Day of Service and Remembrance, to celebrate and connect with individuals and organizations who help make a difference in our community during the Second Annual Do Good Expo. This free event runs from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Summit on the Park Banquet Center, located at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI. All ages are encouraged to attend this free event and take part in one of our hands-on community service projects for all ages, learn how you can make an impact at a local non-profit or service-based organization, purchase a raffle ticket or support local non-profits by donating. Needed items, include: canned or pantry food items, new socks, lotion, shaving cream, razors, Chapstick, adult diapers, new toys, arts & craft supplies, new winter hats and gloves and cleaning supplies.  Find additional information here, or call 734/394-5460.  

Love Your Parks Virtual 5K medal presented by mParks Foundation

Virtual 5K to Benefit Canton Parks

Canton Leisure Services is hosting the Love Your Parks Virtual 5K (3.1 miles) during the month of September to raise funds for local recreation and park opportunities right here in Canton.  Participants can run, walk, skateboard, SUP, bike, surf or swim a 5K anytime during the month of September and 50% of your registration fee will go to the Canton Parks.  This fundraise is an opportunity for ALL fitness levels to participate and run your own race...at your own pace...and support Canton parks while you're at it! Registration fees are just $30 per person and include an online training program and a finisher's medal! 50% of all registration fees will help put new shaded comfort stations in Heritage Park! Experience Canton Culture & Cuisine

In partnership with the Plymouth Canton Interfaith Community, Canton Leisure Services expands its You Belong Here initiative, inviting residents to explore and celebrate Canton’s rich diversity by attending the inaugural ‘Culture & Cuisine’ experience. This unique program will take place on Friday, September 20 and 27 from 6 - 8:30 p.m..  Round-trip shuttle service will pick guests up from the Summit on the Park and transport them to two unique destinations each night. Participating organizations include: Geneva Presbyterian, The Muslim Community of Western Suburbs (MCWS), Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Michigan, and the Hindu Temple. Each faith house invites all ages to learn more their neighbors through a very brief overview of their belief system, samples of cultural cuisine, and engaging musical performances. CLS and ICO hope that through these educational and enjoyable interactions, greater understanding, appreciation and acceptance will prosper in the community. A very limited number of tickets will be available. A $10 per person registration fee includes the full experience on both dates, and all proceeds will benefit the Interfaith Community Outreach.

Canton Club 55+ Senior Games & Open House

Calling all adults ages 55 and up!  Canton will host its annual Senior Games from September 16-19, with an awards ceremony and luncheon scheduled for September 20.  This year's games will kick off with the annual Golf Tournament at Fellows Creek, followed by a number of indoor, field and court events.  Competitions will include: Pickleball, Tennis, Euchre, Will Bowling, various field events and more!  Register today at Canton Club 55+ or by calling 734/394-5485.

B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center

Canton’s popular After-School and Summer program is available to all teens ages 11-17 and features daily programming, tutoring, outreach, and recreation opportunities. This unique teen center encourages teens to gain hands-on experience with activities such as teen TV, cooking, music, art, youth and teen council, and much more. Canton Leisure Services is once again hosting a special fundraiser that will benefit the Canton Historical Society. Event sponsors include:  Holiday Market; Liberty Street Brewing Company; Canton Brew Works; Alphagraphics; Kennedy Nemier Insurance Agency Inc.; Choice Insurance Agency; Edward Jones Investments; Busch’s Fresh Food Market; and BeerFests.com.  The 10th Annual Brew, Brats, & Bands at the Barn fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 8 from 6 - 9 p.m. at Preservation Park, 500 N. Ridge Road.
Each 21 and over attendee can choose from a wide variety of specialty beers. Participants will also receive a commemorative mug, while supplies last. Entertainment will be provided by “Standing Room Only” and “All Directions.”  Tickets are $30 at the door. A Designated Driver ticket is $10. For more information, call 394-5360.

Spring Boys Lacrosse

Registration for Boys Spring Lacrosse is now open for all returning players and new Canton residents.  New non-resident players may register starting October 1.  Team spots are limited. This season will run March 1 to June 7 and will consist of league games and two tournaments.  Players must supply their own equipment.  Uniform is included in fees, which are $300 for Canton Residents and $360 for non-residents.
