Important Facility News
Summit on the Park Sidewalk & Parking Lot Renovations
As many of you are already aware, construction crews are currently making major renovations to the Summit's parking areas and sidewalks.  Please be advised that asphalt will be installed on Saturday, August 4, which will involve heavy-duty machinery.  Visitors to the Summit are asked to follow the signage to find parking spaces and accessible entrances.  Please note that no major renovations will be done on August 7, to provide full access to the Summit as voters head to this polling location.  Weather permitting, this construction project is anticipated to be completed by Friday, August 17.  For additional information, contact the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460.

Summit Renovations and Annual Maintenance Shutdown
The Summit on the Park’s gymnasium floor will undergo renovation starting August 15 and will reopen for use on September 8 at 6 a.m.  Repairs to the gym floor will also include sanding down to the bare wood, as well as court line striping. 

In addition, the Summit on the Park will close for its Annual Maintenance Shutdown beginning Monday, September 3 at noon and will re-open, on Saturday, September 8 at 6 a.m. For more information, contact the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460. 

Visitors to the Summit are advised to follow the directional signage, which will guide them to alternate entrances during construction. Your patience and understanding during this project are greatly appreciated. For additional information, please contact the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460.


Summit Swim Meet
Saturday, August 18, 5:30-8:00 p.m.

Swimmers must be in a youth level 4 or above to participate; please also remember to fill out a registration form from the Aquatic office, and also register online h

Cardboard Boat Race
August 30, 6:00 p.m.

Are you looking for something fun to do that will bring your family together?  Come join us for our 5th Annual Cardboard Boat Race!  Build your custom vessel using nothing but cardboard, duct tape and paint. Line up your crew and register today!  Awards will be given for the Most Creative and Fastest Boats, as well as for the best Titanic.  Any materials involving cardboard, including cardboard tubing, may be used. Registration is required for this event.
Struggling to find building materials? Join us on Wednesday, August 29, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. where we will provide materials (cardboard and colored duct tape) for an additional cost. We will reserve the half of the gym so you and your family can build the boat together the night before and we will display your boat until the race the next day!

Fee: $10M/$15R/$20NR

Family Field Day
Friday, August 10, 7:00 p.m.

Join us on the north side of Heritage Park near the pavilions for this family health and wellness opportunity. Field events include classic outdoor games, such as: potato sack races, shoe kicks, 3-legged race, and wheelbarrow races. No pre-registration, $12 per family fee paid on-site. Can’t make the field events? Then join us for the FREE Movie, featuring "Despicable Me 3," at dusk! Concessions will be available for purchase.

Regular Season Farmers Market
Find healthy, farm-fresh food options during the Market's regular season, which runs every Sunday, now through October 14, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The Canton Farmers Market is an open air Market featuring a variety of Michigan grown and made food, as well as hand crafted items. Canton Club 55+ Senior Summer Games
August 20-24

Attention all adults 55+! Canton is hosting its Annual Summer Games in August. We will be kicking off this event with our Annual Golf Tournament at Pheasant Run, followed by a number of indoor, field, and court events. The games will conclude with an awards ceremony for the participants. This event is open to residents and nonresidents age 55+. Register now through August 10. The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center

This hip 3,000 square foot, state of the art youth and teen center is the hottest spot in town for area youth to enjoy. Since 2001, the B.L.O.C.K. has provided after school and youth development programs for thousands of teens in the community. The center offers a safe, supervised, and social setting for teens ages 11-17. By purchasing a membership, your teen will have access to The BLOCK café, lounge, quiet study room, pool table, foosball table, computer lab and much more! Free daily programs could include tutoring, art class, newspaper club, Teen TV, cooking classes, library programming, and 3 on 3 basketball. Heritage Park Amphitheater
Join us for another summer of music and fun at the Amphitheater in our scenic Heritage Park for your weekly dose of fresh air, family and friends!  Participants are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs as they relax and enjoy the music on the Amphitheater lawn. Raffles and kids’ activities will also be available at each concert. Each week we will be joined by Crusin' Custom Coneys, Good Humor Ice Cream and Awesome Bounce! P-CCS Back to School Bash
Saturday, August 25, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

An exciting tradition for the P-CCS Community continues this year when the P-CCS Back to School Bash returns to Canton’s Heritage Park. The day will offer food, fun, and activities for all P-CCS families. The P-CCS party in the park will provide information, entertainment, and demonstrations from various district groups and programs. Join the EEF Quest for Excellence, at 2:00 p.m. - a family fun event that will raise funds for the Educational Excellence Foundation.

DO GOOD EXPO-National Day of Giving
Tuesday, September 11, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Canton Leisure Service is hosting our First Annual “Do Good Expo” on the National Day of Service and Remembrance at the Summit on the Park Banquet Center.The National Day of Service and Remembrance effort established the tradition of engaging in community service on 9/11 as an annual and forward-looking tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks. Canton Leisure Services will have dozens of local non-profit, volunteer, and service-based organizations hosting a booth and share information about their opportunities to our community members. This is also a great opportunity for you to partake in hands on community service that evening as we will have stations set up with projects, such as: fleece blanket weaving, kindness rock decorating, and letter writing to First Responders.
