Summit on the Park Spotlight

Summit on the Park Feasibility Study Results Are In!

A special presentation will be held on Tuesday, February 4th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Summit on the Park’s Chestnut Room, to review the results of the Summit’s Feasibility Study and Site Analysis that was conducted last November.  Summit members and other interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Participants are asked to please RSVP online or via email to  Participants are also welcome to attend without prior notice. Light refreshments will also be provided. 

GreenPlay, LLC, a nationally-known parks and recreation management consulting firm, has been hired to oversee this project to determine if space enhancements or repurposing is needed at the Summit on the Park. Representatives from GreenPlay, LLC will be onsite to provide the results of their research. If you have any questions regarding the Feasibility Study and Site Analysis of the Summit on the Park, please contact 734/394-5360.

Thank you again to all who participated in one of our previous focus groups or public input meetings. We hope that you will be able to join us on February 4th to stay informed about and continue to participate in the Summit on the Park’s Feasibility Study that will help shape future services of Canton’s popular community recreation center.

Aquatic Center Schedule Update

Summit staff would like to make you aware that due to a lifeguard staff shortage we have again temporarily amended our Aquatic Center schedule to reflect intermittent closures and changes for February 2020.  Currently, we are working to recruit additional lifeguards and will provide certification training at no cost for individuals who are hired as Summit lifeguards.  Please find information below about applying for lifeguard employment and receive a discount code to register for the Lifeguard Training Course for FREE.

Bartlett's Kids Club

Family Fun Activity Day

Upcoming Kids Club Family Fun Activity Day:
Saturday, February 15, 12:00-1:30 p.m.

This month Bartlett's Kids Club will venture to the Village Theater at Cherry Hill to learn the art of acting and the importance of remembering that "The show must go on!" Club participants will receive a behind the scenes tour of the dressing rooms, scene shops, wardrobe, sound, and lighting equipment. Children will also participate in an acting workshop and play improv games, as well as experience movement exercises and choreography.

Area families are always invited to join us on the third Saturday of each month for “Family Fun Days” that focus on family time with fun and engaging activities. Cool down after the scheduled activity in our pool during open swim! (Up to two adults admitted with each child).

Step Challenge: February

FREE February Step Challenge!

February 1-29, 2020
Step through February with the Live Well Canton 2020 Step Challenge. Earn points for every step that you take during the month while you compete with other Canton residents. Click here to be taken to the Challenge Runner website to register. You must enable your activity tracker with the Challenge Runner site to record your points. Challenge Runner is compatible with the following activity trackers: Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, Misfit, Nokia, Omron, Polar, and Samsung Health. This challenge is free to participate. The first place contestant in this challenge will receive a free entry into the 2020 Liberty Run being held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 courtesy of Running Fit.

Cookie Decorating Classes

Do you want something fun to do that gets you out of the house for an afternoon? Then come try your hand at decorating your very own sugar cookies at one of our upcoming classes! All skill levels are welcome to join.

Canton Farmers Market

Canton Off-Season Farmers Markets

The first of three special Off-Season Farmers Markets, featuring a variety of local vendors, will be held on Sunday, February 23, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Summit on the Park Banquet Center. Visit popular local vendors such as: Boblin Honey, Pick Michigan, and The Cheese People for your food and produce needs. Market patrons will be able to take part in a fun activity for the kids. 2020 Canton Chili Cook Off

Area restaurants will be competing to determine who makes the best chili in town during the 2020 Canton Chili Cook Off on Sunday, February 23 from 1-4 p.m. at the Summit on the Park.  This special event, hosted by Women’s Life Insurance Society Chapter 827/Chicks for Charity, will specifically benefit Canton Police and Fire Departments through the Canton Cares Fund, which is overseen by the Canton Community Foundation.  Area residents are encouraged to come out and vote for your favorite recipe.  Tickets are $20 for those 13 and up and $5 for those 12 and under.  Admission includes Chili Sampling and soft drinks. Hot dogs and additional full servings of chili are available for purchase for $2 each. A cash bar will also be available onsite.  For additional information, visit
