Experience music, dance, and drama from around the world when Canton’s International Festival returns to The Village Theater at Cherry Hill on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual cultural and educational festival celebrates the diversity of Canton and surrounding communities through song and dance on the main stage of The Village Theater, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road, Canton, MI 48187.
Countries represented this year through dance, music and vocal performances, include: China, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Polynesia, Tahiti, and the United States.
This year’s featured performers, include: Bollywood Fusion with Chinmayee Kulkarni; New Century Choir; The Tim O’Hare School of Traditional Irish Dance of Ann Arbor and Plymouth; Ann Hua Clivia Dance Group; Jade Dance School Ann Arbor; Canton Qi Pao Team; Sitar featuring Charvik Vaishnav, a student of Manjula Verma; Verdi Opera Theatre of Michigan featuring Soprano Clodagh Earls and Tenor Tyler Bouque with Piano Collaborator John Pavik; Team Blossom and Ann Hua Dance; Yangtze Melody Group; Hoaloha with Melanee Hirvela; Anna Ballet & Dance; Ann Hua Waist Drum Team; Joyas de Mexico Ballet under the direction of Luly Del Real; Skylark of Novi; Troy Chinese Classic Music Guzheng Team; Julzie Gravel; Polish Centennial Dancers; Sunshine Children’s Choir; Dance the Life Mantra Academy; Asian Indian Dance Group of Canton featuring dance choreography by Parul Shah; Plymouth-Canton Chinese Learning Center (PC-CLC); Michigan New Century Chinese School (MNCCS) and the Bollyburn Dancers.
Numerous cultural exhibits will be featured in The Village Theater’s lobby and cultural items from around the world will also be available for purchase during the event. Enjoy an International Sweets Table where favorite International desserts from Metro Detroit area bakeries will be available for purchase.
Bring the whole family and travel the globe through music, dance and more. This event is presented by the all-volunteer Multicultural Committee of the Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage.
Tickets are just $2 per person at the door. Audience members can get their hand stamped and come and go as they please throughout the day. Seating for this main stage production is general admission.
The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is a regional center for the arts that offers the magic of live theatre, soul-stirring music, the thrill of the dance, and the enjoyment of fine art exhibitions and events, in addition to providing a home for several cultural organizations and community groups.
