[ARCHIVED] Better Than Ever Productions Presents “Oldest Living Confederate Widow: Her Confession”

Better Than Ever Productions invites you to celebrate Independence Day by attending their production of “Oldest Living Confederate Widow:  Her Confession”.  Beautifully written, this play will take audiences on a trip through history, love, marriage, family, and victory over abuse. Normally a one-woman show, BTEP’s production, starring Jeanne Marie Pruett (Canton), also has strolling minstrels artfully woven throughout this amazing story. It's going to be a great experience for audience members, with story-telling and music - the likes you've never seen before. Audiences will be moved to laugh, cry, and even be horrified, all in the span of 90 minutes.

Production Director Michael Burden (Redford), says: “It’s a story of family.  It’s a story of a husband and wife.  It’s a story of children.  These people in 1920, 1930, and 1940 go through the same things any couple is going through today.  There’s discord, there’s animosity, there’s love, there are children.  It’s human nature, it’s human life.  It talks about the Civil War in terms of one man’s reaction to it and his wife’s reaction to him.  She just loved this man and he happened to be the last living civil war veteran.  And it’s the love that carries her through all of the problems that they had and all of the difficulties that they had.  Because she’s a very strong-willed woman who put up with a lot, gave a lot, lost a lot, but survives.”

Brian Trippel (Romulus), Better Than Ever Productions secretary, as well as this show’s assistant director,  says, “First, this script is full of the most exquisite gems of language. There are so many phrases that are beyond beautiful. As a well-trained and highly experienced professional, Jeanne Marie Pruett brings the character of Lucy to life in a way that makes one feel like you've known her for years. The addition of music woven into these stories will make this show not only riveting and entertaining, but also unforgettable.”

Performances will be held on Friday, June 29, and Saturday, June 30, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m.
