Earlier this morning, Canton's Division of Public Works was notified of a possible water main break at the intersection of Sheldon and Saltz. Crews have been on site since 7 AM attempting to locate where the break occurred. DPW crews were able to isolate valves in order to minimize the effect on our customers however there are approximately 39 homes without water.
Upon further investigation, the DPW determined that the main broke somewhere under Sheldon Road. This will result in the temporary closure of Sheldon Road, both northbound and southbound, at Saltz Road. Saltz Road, east and west bound will still be open to traffic. The DPW is in the process of deploying barricades and road closure signs to the site for traffic control. Portions of Sheldon Road will need to be removed in order to find and repair the break. Motorists are advised to avoid this area until further notice. MSD will continue to keep you posted on the status throughout the afternoon.
